When you are trying to care for abandoned animals in some of the most deprived areas of the world and even buying food is a problem, obtaining medical care and basic equipment such as beds and blankets is a constant battle. The Animal Medical Care Foundation supports animal welfare in some of the most deprived areas of the world. It is known as The 'Red Cross' for animals in shelters.

Mercy Visit to Refuges in Slovenia and Croatia

Recently AMCF President Betty Heideman and Secretary Sylvie Hood made a mercy visit to two of the shelters the Foundation supports: the shelters of Horjul in Slovenia and Rijeka in Croatia. Both shelters are totally reliant on volunteers and have little or no official help.

Betty and Sylvie drove a van through France and Italy to Slovenia and then onto Croatia with a cargo of donated beds, bedding, food, medicines and other items such as feeding bowls and toys.
